Wisdom Teeth X-Ray
Third molars sit close to the inferior alveolar nerve in the lower jaw and the sinus in the upper. An X-ray before any wisdom tooth decision shows the angle of impaction, how many roots there are and how curved they are, and exactly how much clearance exists from the nerve canal — which is what makes the extraction safe and predictable.

Common questions
Wisdom Teeth X-Ray — your questions answered
IOPA or full panoramic?
An IOPA is enough for one tooth. If all four wisdom teeth are being assessed, a panoramic view gives the complete picture in one exposure.
Can you tell risk from the X-ray alone?
Largely yes. Where the roots overlap the nerve canal we may advise a CBCT scan for a three-dimensional view before surgery.
